On this prestigious occasion of the 40th Annual Day Celebration of our Ebenezer Marcus Matric Hr Sec school, I take great privilege in greeting our Chief Guests Dr V G Santhosam Chairman, VGP Group of Companies, B Mr Nandakumar, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Bishop Dr Ramesh Kumar, Correspondent of St John's Hr. Sec. School, Mrs Chithra Inbanathan WCC college Chennai, dignitaries on the dias, distinguished invitees, respected parents, and dear students, I warmly welcome one and all present here. I would like to thank you all for accepting our invitation and gracing this occasion.
This is a red letter day on which we are privileged to recount our blessings which our Heavenly Father has bestowed upon us. On this momentous occasion we are filled with gratitude to our wonderful Saviour and it is a rejoinder to us of our duties and our obligations as His humble earthen vessels.
It gives me immense pleasure to present to you the Annual Report for the academic year 2017-2018. This academic year 2017-2018 has been significant and highly successful in so many aspects. Our relentless endeavors have been exceedingly successful and this is a clinching evidence of our tireless and unceasing pursuit of excellence. Apart from grooming the children in academics, very special steps have been taken to hone their inborn and latent talents and potentials to benefit the society and the country at large. We have no doubt that the training that has been imparted to them will adequately equip them to counter and overcome the many insurmountable battles and challenges they would face in their lives in the foreseeable future.
We are immensely and profoundly grateful and thankful to the Correspondent, Mr J Thiyagaran Marcus, for the unstinted and large-hearted cooperation which has helped the school to scale dizzy heights in the areas of infrastructure and in maintaining the high and noble standards for which our school is highly renowned. Recently constructed "Emmanuel Block" bears witness to the ingenuity, hard work, the unparalleled commitment and dedication of our Correspondent. We humbly acknowledge that We are deeply to the debt of our Senior Principal, Mrs. Vijaya Thiyagarajan, who has been a strong tower of support to our Correspondent and for the ceaseless endeavors which has helped us to maintain the cleanliness, the ambiance of our environment green and absolutely spick and span. We are also exceedingly happy to thank our Administrators, Mr Peter Whitin, Mr Samuel Joseph, Mrs Diana Peter Whitin and Mrs Hephsibaz Samuel Joseph for their dynamism and for their focal role they have played with their innovative and creative ideas which has helped our school to make rapid strides in different areas. We very specially thank our teachers for their sincere, dedicated and committed efforts in moulding the students and equipping them with the needed academic and life skills, so that they may blossom into responsible citizens of the country.
We are extremely delighted to say that a team from Delhi came to conduct an inspection on our school in the month of December and January and Ebenezer Marcus Matric Hr Sec school was ranked among the top 12 schools for cleanliness and for maintaining an eco friendly environment ( Swachh Bharat - Clean India )
Down through these so many years our school has been growing from strength to strength and they have made tremendous strides in the field of education and in raising the academic standards. The achievements of our students in academics speak volumes of the dedication and the commendable efforts of our teachers and management. The results of Std X and XII in particular bear witness to this incontrovertible fact.
We are proud to report that 2016-17 batch of X and XII Std students have brought laurels to the school by their extra-ordinary results. We have achieved 100% pass results in class X examination held in March 2017. R.Shanmuga Priya of X std stood first with 493/500, S Sathya, J Keerthana, R Rishika scored 490 and J Shankara Narayanan and M Janet Jaya Ruby scored 489. Ten students scored centum in Maths, four students scored centum in Science and one student scored centum in Social.
In the recently concluded higher secondary Exam, Our students came out with flying colours. Subramanian R topped the rankings with 1184/1200, and Ashwin Raj S with 1175 and Deepak T with 1172 were ranked second and third respectively. Eight of our students scored above 1150, 16 students scored above 1100, 2 students scored centum in Commerce, 3 other students secured 199, 2 students scored centum in Accounts and 2 other students scored 199, 3 students scored centum in Business Maths, and 3 others scored 199, this apart 3 more students secured centum in Chemistry, Economics and Computer Science.
PTA meetings were conducted for all the classes with a view to elicit parents' co-operation and receive their invaluable suggestions that will play a vital role in our endeavors towards imparting quality education.
To enhance the working capacity of our teachers and refurbish and polish their latent and inborn skills, we had organized seminars at regular intervals.
Mrs Ranjini, a resource person of Next Education Publication conducted a workshop for the kinder garten staff on Effective teaching and learning on 2nd of June.
A seminar on "Teaching Methods of MI Kids with software" was conducted for the KG and the primary school teachers by the resource person Mr. Pandurangan on 3rd of June.
Dr. Jaishree Anand from Oxford University Press conducted a workshop on classroom management and teachers' motivation for the teachers of Kinder Garten and Primary school on 5th June.
A workshop for the primary teachers was organized by Dr Radha on ebooks and teachers' manual on 20th June.
Miss Gayathri Krishnan of Ratnasagar Publication conducted a workshop on "Learning English language in an Effective manner" on 24th June.
Mrs Punitha G and her team from Vista Academy India organized Arithmetic Assessment for classes III to V.
16 students from II std were awarded with medals for their exemplary skills in reading by MI kids, SIP Academy.
17 students emerged as achievers and eligible for State Level Competition in Spell Bee International.
In the 'Brain O Brain' National level competition, Priyadharshini S of II E emerged as topper.

Ilamaran S of II D, Renfred Jafflind Dhas R of II D and Kanishkaa G of II C and Kishore Kumar P of II A were the winners in the Thiruvallur District Yoga competition and were awarded with Medals and certificates.
115 students participated and received participation certificates in Drawing & Painting competitions conducted by Osho communications Draw kids on 25th July.
Camel Art contest conducted Drawing and Painting competition on 23 June, and Jancy Priscilla III A, PremKumar III B, Yakkshetha J IV A, Geo Franklin S IV C, Vineet B of V E won medals and certificates.
In the Spell Bee International State level competition, Haridaran K III A, Jancy Priscilla J III A, Jenith Samuel V, IV B, Jenifer Joseph J of V C were the winners and Visali A of III A received the certificate of Achievement, got through all levels, and had the honor of being a meritorious student at the International level.
Nallalaghu Polytechnic conducted English Elocution competition and Ashritha Jozylyn of VB won the third place.
L. Prince Lawson of Vc won the third place in modified Hurdles and got the Bronze Medal and merit certificate on 14th July in the Spartan Kiddies Inter-School competition.
V. Vishal of VD completed successfully all levels in Abacus Mental Arithmetic programme which was conducted by Wonder Minds VG Genius Academy on 9th September and was awarded with a Cup and Certificate.
A Arul Mukilan of III B got second place and won silver and bronze medals in Kate and third place in Kumite events.
M Dharshini of V C completed the first term in Abacus Mental Arithmetic programme successfully and received a cup and certificate.
Sanjeev Jai P of IVB won silver medal and Merit certificate in Taekwon - do Championship held at Goa on 14th November.
Jerlin W III , Meghna A of I E, Jithya R of II D, Judah Beethoven G IV B, Vineet B of V E received gold medals and certificates in the Spell Bee International Competition.
Maitheeshwari M of VB entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being a part of 5000 Bharathanatyam dancers who danced together in Puducherry.
Lokeshwari S of IV B, Priyadharshini P of V B, Darshini M S of V E won medals and certificates in the Thiruvallur District Yoga competition in the month of January.
Primary Students showcased their creative talents by exhibiting models and projects on "Importance of food and water", World Nature conservation Day, Pollution, Inhale the future and Exhale the past (five land forms) our green friends, colours, shapes, and human body.
Exhibition PA-PRE-FU was organized in the month of October in a grand manner. Children showcased their talents exhibiting Past, Present, Future means of communication, Entertainment, Modern Technology, Food, Transport and shelter.
Nallalaghu Nadar Polytechnic College conducted " Blossoms 2017" with various competitions. 33 students participated enthusiastically and bagged 10 prizes in the month of October.
Ascent Inter State Competition was conducted in the month of September 2017. 110 students participated in various competitions and four students emerged as Ascent Smart Champions, four as Zonal winners, seven students were adjudged Inter school winners and 13 students as School winners.
Spell Bee competition was conducted on 6th January 2018. 14 students participated and 6 students have been qualified for the state level.
In the zonal and District level Science Exhibition, our higher secondary students Surya, Chandru, Gowtham, Kishore of XI std won the second place in both the Zonal and District level that was conducted in the month of September and October by displaying their project on "Salt Water to Useful Products".
Tamilnadu Silambam Martial Arts conducted a special Silambam Programme by Master K Ravi MA along with his Asst Master R Murali.
We witnessed the election for School Pupil Leader conducted with an authentic election process, campaigns, secret ballet, ink marking in the month of June for middle, high, and higher secondary school, and the oath taking ceremony was conducted for the elected leaders.
As a part of entertainment, our students from Pre kg to V std were taken to a Field trip to Rail Museum in the month of January and middle school students will have their chances in the month of February.
Higher secondary students were taken on an excursion to CIT Kundrathur and they were greatly benefitted by observing the various technological advancement in the field of engineering.
40 students of Biological science were taken to Hande Hospital, Shenoy Nagar on 29th of August for an inspirational Audio Visual Presentation by a renowned Medicinist.

As always this year was filled with lot of celebrations and pleasant surprises.
Kindergarten kids always have a special day every week, celebrating the different colours and exhibiting different varieties of fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Special Days were celebrated by the students in remembrance of Great leaders, festivals, and events with great enthusiasm like International Yoga day, Educational Development Day, Dr Abdul Kalam's Death Anniversary, World Nature conservation Day, Independence Day, Sports Day, Onam , Teachers' Day, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam's 86th birth Anniversary, Awareness on Road safety , Children's Day, Christmas Celebration, Pongal Celebration and Republic Day.
Children's Day celebration was held with students competing with great excitement in a variety of events like Drawing, Poster Making, Best out of Waste, Singing , Dancing, fancy dress, Clay - pot painting and decoration using quilling paper.
Food Mela was organized on 22nd November 2017 and it was inaugurated by our honourable administrators Mrs Diana and Mrs Hephzibah. Scrumptious meals with multivarious Cuisines were served and the dishes were enjoyed not only by our students but also by the parents.
Christmas message was delivered in a novel manner with a magic show by Pastor Adrian and his wife Joy Adrian.
Republic Day was celebrated with great honour and patriotism. Patriotic dances were performed.
The Annual Art and Craft exhibition 2018 was inaugurated by Lt.Col. Mr Ravi on 26th January . Students from KG to Plus 2 exhibited their talents in various forms of paintings like pencil shading, oil painting, and displayed many other impressive things.
The students were divided into four different houses. Various events were conducted for our school sports meet. Our students participated with a true sportsmanship spirit. Individual Championships were awarded in sub junior, junior, senior and super senior categories.
Samuel Jeba Durai of VII A won 3 gold and 1 bronze in different categories in the state level competition that was held at Virapuram. He also won 3 gold, a silver, and a bronze medal in the Interschool level competition held at Anna Nagar. In the National Level competition, he won a gold medal, a silver and a bronze medal at Hubli, Karnataka.
School super senior boys team won the Zonal Match which was held at SRM Hr sec school.
In the Inter School U - 10 category that was conducted by St Joseph's Matric School both our school Kho-Kho (girls) and football team ( boys ) emerged as the winners . Harish R of VIII D was one among the state and National 5's football team in the under 13 category that was held at Thirupur and Coimbatore respectively. He was a part of the winning team at the state level and the runner up team at the National level.
In Athletics, both boys and girls have won 19 medals in different categories.

Felix P, Rogan Williams S, Joel Sam O, Kasiviswanathan Y of VIII bagged 1st place in Relay ( 4x100 mt ) category.
Nancy Lilly Maria C S of VII B secured III place in shot put in 'under 14' category.
Both Boys and Girls ( under 17) teams bagged the third place in 4 x 100 m relay. ( Jaison, Shaan Harry, Johnson, Sanjay) ( Jessica, Sowmya, Auslin Rachael, Angel ). In the under -19 category Girisha Shri, Shyamala, Thongam Grace Olivia, Zaneta Petra Brewart secured the third place in 4x100m relay.
Simon Stanley of X won the third place in the 3000m race.
Vasanth R of XI A secured the second place in the 5000m race.
B. Hanumanth of XII D clinched the second place in the 3000m race.
Johnson won the third place in Javelin throw at the Zonal level.
Auslin Rachael clinched the second place both in the Zonal and in the District level and was selected for the Division Match. Thongam Grace Olivia bagged the first place both in Shot put and in Discuss throw.
P Aravind Prakash of XI got the second place in the Road cycling event conducted at OMR by Decalthon on 14th of October. He clinched the first place in the 30 km category.
Simon Stanley of X has been selected for the SGFI Tamilnadu state team.
Y Kasiviswanathan of VIII B secured second place in the district level under 14 category.
D Santhosh Jayadev of VI D won the second place in the District level under 14 category.
Thanuja B of VI D was awarded with yellow Belt and Sahana H K of VI D was awarded with green Belt.
The school choir plays a pivotal role by participating in all the important programmes conducted by our school. They are ably guided and assisted by Mr George Stephenson and Mrs Visalakshi George and they constitute the backbone of this esteemed institution. They invoke the blessings of God with their mesmerizing and mellifluous singing that would captivate and thrill the audience with their soul stirring melodies. Recently our choir received Best Semblance Award in Sangeetha Thaara 2017 organized by St George Syrian Orthodox Church.
Students are specially trained as scouts and guides, cubs and bulbuls to carry out the duties and take up responsibilities as better citizens of the society. Scouts and Guides, Cubs and bulbuls movement of our Ebenezer Marcus has conducted an annual camp on 1st day of Dec 2017. This ceremony created our young minds an attitude of staying together, sharing and caring. On 12th of October, Bharat Scouts and Guides, cubs and Bulbuls got together to promote road safety awareness with slogans on road safety insisting each and every individual to wear helmet, seat belt, cross roads carefully. 9 students of our movement have been selected to appear for Rajyapuraskar Award.
Little Drops for health and hygiene trust is a Non-governmental organization imparting personal hygiene among student community. Since its inception our school has been actively taking part in all the activities. Around 100 students are the leaders of this club moulding and motivating their peers to follow personal health and hygiene. As a part of this year's schedule a group of doctors under the leadership of Dr S Varadharajan, the Chairman of Little Drops and Esvee Hospital conducted Student-Leader workshop in our school on 5th August around 200 students from 21 schools participated. In Annual Inter-school competition conducted by Little Drops on 10th Jan many of our students bagged laurels to our school. Little Drops conducted various competitions on January 10, 2018 in which our school students participated and secured 2nd place in a skit based on the benefits of Hand washing, Ashita and Kartthega of VIII std won the 2nd place in English and Tamil Elocution Competition by respectively. I st place was bagged by Belinda of VII std in Essay writing competition.
Our school band has been a part of every programme which was well guided by Mr Murugesan. A special appreciation for the team and the trainers.
Bharatanatyam classes are conducted from classes 1 to 8 on regular basis.
The school has always been taking initiatives to bring out the best talents in the sports arena. The goal of the academy is to identify the budding stars with great potentials and mould them to be the future sports personalities. Nearly 150 students are given special coaching in Football, Badminton, Athletics, Yoga and Cricket by Physical Education Trainers Mr Nilavazhagan, Mr James, Mr Robert, Mrs Subashini under the co-ordination of Mrs Lakshmi.
The Ebenezer Music Academy imparts training to the students in various musical instruments like Keyboard, Guitar, Violin, Drums. They send the students to participate in the Exams conducted by the Trinity College of London. The students have highly distinguished themselves with their meritorious performances and carved out a niche for themselves in their chosen fields of discipline.

Every year has been punctuated with challenges, fruitful activities, fun-filled events and this year also was no exception to the rule. Our school firmly entrenched in the road to development and progress. We have created new milestones and raised the bar in the field of academic excellence and holistic growth and development of our students. God has been our Provider, our Leader and the corner stone of all our endeavors and programmes. He has been sustaining this institution down through these so many years and we are confident of His leading and Providence in the ensuing years also. We categorically assure the parents that we shall continue to strive with zest and zeal in maintaining the noble standards which our esteemed organization is highly reputed and renowned for .
